BJP legislator Ram Kadam on Wednesday wrote an open letter to Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi asking them to apologise to Bharat Ratna recipients Lata Mangeshkar and Sachin Tendulkar. Kadam also accused them of maligning these two great personalities in the ongoing debate over farmers’ protests.
Taking to Twitter, Kadam said: “Request Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi to tender an apology and stop this image maligning charade of our Bharat Ratnas Lata Mangeshkar and Sachin Tendulkar.”
He said that both Lata and Sachin hay served our country with sincerity. “Unfortunately, several Congress leaders have been indulging in image maligning of these legends,” Kadam also said.
Kadam’s reaction has come in the wake of Congress leader Sachin Sawant saying that Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has given orders to the Intelligence Department to probe the Tweets by the two celebrities. Tendulkar, Akshay Kumar and Sunil Shetty had Tweeted calling for unity in the country after Rihanna and some others had extended their support to the protesting farmers.
