Lower-order bat Shardul Thakur, who slammed two fifties in the Oval Test between England and India is being hailed as “Lord” Shardul Thakur and has taken social media by storm.
Thakur first lifted India to 191 in the first innings with the fastest fifty ever recorded in England (31 balls) and then in the second shared a century stand with Rishabh Pant after India had slumped to 312 for six, making 60 for himself.
Social Media had several creative images posted on twitter. For instance, one showed the Queen of England saying she believed in “Lord Shardul Supremacy.”
This has not gone unnoticed by the man himself. In a video shared by Indian cricket board on September 3, Thakur says: “Lord is just a meme which started on social media I think…but yeah, pretty that I am getting from my team mates, from everyone that they want to call me by certain nicknames.”
🎥 @imShard is happy with the love he's getting from his teammates & not to forget some legendary nicknames 😉
