Bengal post-poll violence: CBI registers 34 FIRs, eight mention TMC leaders
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered 34 FIRs, out of which 10 explicitly mentions that the post-poll violence Bengal was politically motivated and at least eight of these 10 accuse the Trinamool Congress leaders as perpetrators of excesses.
The central agency recently uploaded all the 34 FIR on their website, as per a report. . According to one FIR, the complainant Ayan Mandal informed how on August 14, 2021, TMC goons, namely Abul Sekh, Alamgir Sekh, Ujjal Ghosh dragged him and his brother to a Muslim locality where they were assaulted brutally with sticks and iron rods because they were Bharatiya Janata Party supporters.
Another complainant Bandana Khetrapal in an FIR number RC0562021S0004 dated August 25, 2021, complained that TMC workers Kanan Khetrapal, Sukumar and Dilip Khetrapal has threatened his son to join TMC. He mentioned that they told his now-deceased son if he did not join TMC they would make his life hell. The FIR mentions how they made him drink alcohol and he was drowned in a pond.
Tumpa Majhi, another complainant in FIR number RC0562021S0012 August mentioned TMC goons attacked her house with iron rods, weapons, bombs in a pre-planned manner. She informed how the perpetrators continued to beat her 22-year-old son even when he was soaked in blood.
“They threatened us that they would finish our Hinduism…We were not allowed to leave the village late at night. My injured son was transferred to BIMS Hospital in Burdwan the same day, where he died at around 10 pm,” she mentioned in the FIR.
Dinanath Kirtaniya, the complainant who is also associated with BJP, said TMC leaders threatened his brother and family members to not to work for BJP.
They told him that he would be killed since he did not pay heed to their warning and didn’t leave BJP. “You are still working for the BJP, we will kill you today”, the FIR quotes the TMC goons a telling Dinanath Kirtaniya’s brother. Later as per plans, they hit his brother with a heavy blunt object after which he died on the spot.
TMC leaders have also openly threatened the other BJP workers, “Today we have killed one, tomorrow we will kill all the members of your family”.
Meanwhile, A team of CBI officials also raided TMC leader Lalan Ghosh's residence in West Bengal's Birbhum district. The probe team visited Gopalpur village in the Illambazar police station area of the district, where BJP worker Gourab Sarkar was beaten to death.
