RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s remarks that the “most content Muslims are only in India” has kicked up a new controversy with All India Council for Unity of Muslims leader Asaduddin Owaisi asking “what is the measure of our happiness?”.
Owaisi lashed out on Mohan Bhagwat and said that your ideology wants to make Muslims second class citizens in the country. From his official Twitter handle, Owaisi said, “No matter how hard Bhagwat tries to link us to foreign Muslims, it will not reduce my Indianness. Hindu Rashtra-Hindu Supremacy. That is unacceptable to us.”
“What is the measure of our happiness? That a man named Bhagwat can constantly tell us how grateful we should be to the majority? The measure of our happiness is whether our dignity under the Constitution is respected. Don’t tell us how ‘happy’ we’re while your ideology wants…(sic),” he tweeted further.
Addressing a meeting of intellectuals ahead of the meeting of Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Mandal, the highest decision-making body of RSS, Mr. Bhagwat has mentioned “People of India consider themselves as one irrespective of diverse culture, languages, geographical locations.”
Commenting on Pakistan, he said the Islamic republic gave ‘no rights to other religions’
As the head of RSS and the ideological mentor of the ruling BJP, Mr. Bhagwat further added that Hindu has nothing to do with whom does one worship.
“Religion should be connecting, uplifting, uniting everyone in one single thread. Whenever the devotion for India and its culture awakens and feeling of pride arises for the ancestors, the distinctions between all religions disappear and people from all faiths stand together,” Bhagwat said.
RSS has also refuted claims to ‘re-claim’ Krishna Janmasthan on Mathura, after the commencement of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya’s Janmabhoomi.
