The Chinese government has been carrying out anal swab tests for Covid-19 on the United States diplomats. But it promised to stop so on Thursday after Washington objected to such practices as “undignified.”
The Chinese provinces have been doing anal swabs for people under quarantine, including travellers from abroad. They have been doing so as they think that throat or nasal swabs can miss infections.
China’s National Health Commission feel that traces of the virus stay in the faecal matter for a longer time than in the respiratory tract.
