Congress directionless; India’s future is with Modi: Jitin Prasada

Jitin Prasada, who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party yesterday, said that the Congress party has become directionless and distant from the public.

In his interview with the Republic network, Prasada pointed out that there was an increasing gap between the public and the grand-old party and that there was an increase in the number of defeats faced by Congress as well.

He mentioned that Congress isn’t ready to work upon the internal structure despite facing multiple electoral defeats and said that they were ‘directionless’.

“My decision to leave the Congress was not taken in haste. While speaking to people on the ground, I began to realise that I wasn’t able to fulfil the basic expectations of people. I realised that the party had become directionless and moved away from people on the ground.”

Stating his decision to join BJP as a privilege, Prasada said his decision was not about the post or power but rather ideals.

“I haven’t left the party in the lure of being out of power. I stood with the party for seven years & have struggled with the cause of the Congress. I have lost three elections since 2014. If I had to switch because of defeat, I would have done it before,” he added further.

The 47-year-old former Union minister also hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Praising PM Modi, Jitin Prasada said “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading the country strongly and is the most capable person to confront the challenges nation is facing. The future of this country is best in the hands of PM Modi and BJP.”
