Congress MP reduces Rajya Sabha to a new low with his conduct in House

The Monsoon Session of Parliament witnessed a new low on Tuesday with Congress MP Pratap Singh Bajwa in Rajya Sabha climbed on the table, waved black cloth, and threw files when the House began a discussion on farmers’ protest against new reform laws.

After him, other Opposition MPs also lost their cool and climbed on the table, shouting anti-government slogans. In the video, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh was also seen sitting on a bench with other leaders and raising slogans against the Agriculture Laws.

It is important to note here that the Opposition, which itself has been demanding a discussion over social media platforms and on television, made the situation worse for the Chairs to conduct debates ensuring that proceedings were sabotaged on a daily basis.

Vice-Chairman Bhubaneswar Kalita lashed out at the Opposition and expressed his dissatisfaction with what transpired at the Upper House. Kalita said, “Whatever has happened today in Rajya Sabha is very unfortunate. This is unusual for a member of a parliament to behave that way and has reduced the gravity of Rajya Sabha.”

Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar also called out members of the Congress, AAP, and TMC parties for undemocratic attitude towards Parliament proceedings.

“Since the beginning of the Monsoon session of Parliament, the government of India has been saying that we are ready to hold a detailed discussion on any subject, including those related to agriculture. The demand for a discussion on agriculture was accepted in Rajya Sabha today. As soon as it began, Congress, Aam Aadmi Party and Trinamool Congress members resorted to an undemocratic attitude. The Congress is not able to digest the fact that farmers are prospering with the new government policies,” he said.

While the entire nation is suffering due to the irresponsible behaviour of the Opposition, they seem to be unaffected by it. Pratap Singh Bajwa had even justified his act by saying that he won’t apologize for the same.

“I have no regret for whatever I have done. Whatever we were doing, it is for farmers only. We are doing it because of helplessness. I just want to tell farmers that you continue your fight on streets will continue this is parliament,” he said.
