A Delhi Police Special Investigation Team (SIT) has arrested Dharmendra Singh Harman who had raised a religious flag at Red Fort on January 26 during violence there. The SIT nabbed Harman after receiving video footage in which he is seen sitting on top of a car instigating onlookers to hoist a Sikh flag on the Red Fort.
The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested Harman in connection with the violence that took place on the Republic Day at the Red Fort. Harman had live streamed the Red Fort flag hoisting on his Facebook account.
A resident of Delhi’s Arjun Nagar, Harman had been visiting the agitating farmers regularly during the last two months. Instigating the rioters to hoist the Sikh flag on the Red Fort, Harman is also seen participating in the riots in the video footage.
Hundreds of protesters entered Delhi on January 26 driving tractors, and indulged in violence against Delhi Police personnel, injuring 400 of them. On February 3, the SIT had released photographs of 20 rioters involved in the violence. According to reports, Delhi Police has received over 1,700 video clips and CCTV footage.
