Hathras gang-rape: Yogi forms a SIT, wants a report in 7 days
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday formed a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the Hathras gang-rape incident. The Chief Minister’s office took to twitter for an official announcement regarding the same.
The CMO tweet mentioned,
“CM Yogi Adityanath has ordered the formation of a three-member SIT to investigate the Hathras incident. It will be headed by state home secretary Bhagwan Swarup and will have inspector general Chandraprakash and PAC Sena Nayak Poonam as members. The team has to submit a report within seven days.”
Along with these three officials, the panel will also include members from the Dalit community along with other woman members. The CM has also directed for the trial of the case in a fast-track court.
The Chief Minister also added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for the “strictest action against the accused.”
The 20-year-old victim was brutally gang-raped in a village in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras on September 14. She was initially admitted to Aligarh’s JN Medical College and Hospital but later shifted to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. She kept fighting for her life for 15 days but succumbed to her brutal injuries on Tuesday.
She had suffered several fractures, paralysis, and a gash in her tongue in the horrific incident.
Meanwhile, UP Police has arrested all four accused and along with gang-raping, they will be now charged for murder also.
The family of the now-deceased victim alleged that the police cremated her body in the middle of the night without their consent.
The police have denied all the allegations.
