Imran tests positive after taking Chinese vaccine

Pakistan Prime Minister and former cricket captain Imran Khan has tested positive for Covid-19. Breaking the news, Imran Khan’s special assistant on National Health Service, Faisal Sultan said Khan is self-isolating at home. Khan, 68, is understood to be experiencing mild symptoms, with Sultan confirming he would be self-isolating at home.

It is also important to know that he has tested positive for the virus within 48 hours of receiving the Chinese covid-19 vaccine Sinopharm.

“Prime Minister Imran Khan was vaccinated today. On the occasion, the he appealed to the nation to ensure full implementation of SOPs in view of the third wave of the pandemic,” his office tweeted on Thursday.

Vaccine hesitancy has been a major concern in Pakistan, and the prime minister’s decision to broadcast footage of himself receiving the jab was praised as an attempt to encourage others to do the same. But now it has definitely raised concern among the general public.  However, It is not clear whether the Chinese coronavirus vaccine was directly responsible for Imran Khan testing positive for the virus or not.

The Pakistan’s Ministry of National Health Services has also issued a statement saying Imran Khan was not fully vaccinated when he contracted the virus.

Meanwhile, Chinese vaccines have met with some suspicion regarding the efficacy of their covid-19 vaccines. Also, there is very less information available compared to those produced by other major powers.
