Russian envoy to India Nikolay Kudashev on Wednesday said that his country and India are committed to the agreed timeline with regard to the delivery of long-range S-400 surface-to-air defence missile systems and other agreements.
“With regard to S-400 and the agreements, both sides are committed to the agreed timelines and that the obligations in this contract be successfully fulfilled, as to my knowledge,” Kudashev said at a press briefing.
In February, a top Russian official had said that his country will begin the delivery of the S-400 missile systems to India by the end of 2021 and there will be no delay in execution of the project.
India has signed an air defence system deal worth USD 5 billion with Russia for the procurement of five units of the S-400 air defence missile systems. The pact was signed in October 2018 during the 19th India-Russia Annual Bilateral Summit in New Delhi.
Kudashev further said that the bilateral ties between the two countries remain equal and comprehensive despite any global turbulence.
“Our ties remain equal, solid, comprehensive, coherent and forward-looking despite any global turbulence. They are re based on universal principles of interstate relations, international law, UN’s Charter & respect of other interests,” he said.
“In Defence, Russia remains the leading Indian partner. Internationally, we are on the same page with regards to the issues of promoting strategic stability and international security,” he added.
