Trust Arvind Kejriwal to fish in troubled waters: Now that Congress is split in the middle between CM Capt Amarinder Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu, the AAP is planning a no-confidence motion in the Punjab state assembly, it was reported in RepublicWorld.
The AAP has issued a whip to all of its 16 MLAs to be present in the upcoming assembly session today, though this special one-day session is to mark the 400th birth anniversary of Guru Teg Bahadur and no other business is listed, AAP could raise the issue on the floor.
If Akal Dal also supports the no-confidence motion, Congress, which enjoys a comfortable majority of 80 MLAs in the 117-seat assembly could be in trouble.
Congress’ peace-maker in Punjab, Harish Rawat, has already said that all is not well within Congress party in the state.
Rawat met Amarinder Singh at the latter’s residence in Chandigarh. It’s learnt that Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu was denied an audience with the party’s high command after uttering that he won’t “spare them” if they don’t allow him to take decisions.
Sidhu’s advisors also made some pro-Pakistan statement in recent times.
Sidhu’s supporters are demanding the ouster of Capt Amarinder Singh which so far hasn’t been supported by the high command. They have declared Capt Amarinder Singh to be the party’s CM face for the 2022 state polls.
