Former England cricketer Nick Compton feels that Indian captain Virat Kohli is “the most foul-mouthed individual.”
Kohli is a passionate presence on the field of play and during the recent Lord’s Test, he was seen having several verbal duels with Jos Buttler, Johnny Bairstow and James Anderson.
Compton, comparing Kohli with the players like Kane Williamson, Joe Root as well as Sachin Tendulkar, tweeted: “Isn’t Kohli the most foul mouthed individual. I’ll Never forget the barrage of abuse I received in 2012 when the swearing stunned me to the point that he did himself a serious disservice. It highlights what a level headed and grounded man Root, Tendulkar, Williamson et al are”.
Kohli’s fans on the micro-blogging website, however, weren’t in mood to take this opinion by the former England cricketer in stride. Compton, later deleted the tweet.
After losing the Lord’s Test by 151 runs, even England captain Joe Root had admitted that sledging the Indian cricket team was a tactical blunder by the hosts. Root, however, ruled out having any sort of bad blood with Kohli or another Indian cricketer over the on-field incidents.
“Virat’s got his style and his way of doing things that’s probably contrasting naturally to the way I play my cricket. Fair play to Virat and his team, they’ve jumped on something emotional that’s given them an edge and something to cling on to tactically.
“India as a side grabbed onto something and used that to their advantage on this occasion. As far as I’m concerned, I don’t think there is any nastiness or hatred there between anyone out there on the field,” the England skipper had said.
