Moitra served with privilege motion on her diatribe against Gogoi

Mahua Moitra, the Trinamool Congress MP, who has a habit of getting carried away, might have done it one too many this time.

Moitra had targeted former Chief Justice of India and Rajya Sabha MP Ranjan Gogoi in Lok Sabha last month. So vitriolic it was that it’s been expunged by the Lok Sabha Now she has been served a notice, after a BJP MP, Nishikant Dubey from Jharkhand, moved a privilege motion against her. He had done so on February 10.  The notice served against Moitra demanded the termination of her membership in the Lok Sabha.

As per Article 121 of the Constitution, no discussion can be entertained in the parliament on any judge of the High Court or Supreme Court in the course of discharge of his or her duty, except when it’s for removal of the judge.

Moitra however kept repeating her statements in violation of Rule 356 of Lok Sabha procedure. Further, she is unrepentant on this motion. She mentioned the notice as a “badge of honour” on twitter.
