Mr Soren, Jharkhand says vaccine shortage but wastes most in India, a whopping 37.3%





The Union Health Ministry has revealed that Congress-ruled states have topped the vaccine wastage list. The wastage is as high as 37.3% in Jharkhand followed by Chhattisgarh with 30.2% wastage. 

This comes after Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren target the Centre, saying that the state was facing a severe shortage of covid vaccines and had barely two three days of shots left in its stock. 

The Centre has repeatedly asked states to avoid vaccine wastage and keep it as low as 1%, ensuring the maximum number of people should be vaccinated. Despite that according to central data, Jharkhand has wasted as many as 15 lakh doses. 

Earlier Haryana had topped the vaccine wastage with 6% wastage for Covishield and 10% for Covaxin list but Additional Chief Secretary Rajeev Arora informed that the state has brought it down to 3.1% and 2.4% respectively.
