President urged on ‘State-Sponsored’ violence against SC,ST in Bengal by 114 Professors

Over a hundred SC and ST professors, 114 in all, have written to the President Ram Nath Kovind about thousands of displaced persons of the community in West Bengal the light of “killing, looting, raping and occupying their land” which they have put as “State-Sponsored” by ruling “Trinamool Congress in collaboration with State Police” once the assembly poll results were out on May 2.

“We urge you to immediately “intervene” and “save the SC and ST community” and assure “social security” for them.

The letter claims that after the assembly polls results were out in West Bengal on May 2, more than 11,000 people and most of them “belonging to SC and ST” have been rendered homeless. That over 40,000 have been affected in the 1,627 incidents of brutal attacks. Over 5000 houses were demolished, 126 women have been outraged. 26 people have died in the suburban areas belonging to SC and ST community.

“As a result, more than 2000 people become refugees as Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Assam, Orissa and Jharkhand.

“The State-sponsored activists of Trinamool Congress in collaboration with the State Police have targeted the SC/ST community and spread the violence of killing, looting, raping and occupying their land,” the letter states.

“The SC and ST community…needs an assurance of rebuilding and resettling their plundered houses, right to life to the orphaned children, providing medical and other facilities with immediate effect with full protection and safety,” the letter concludes.
