Rahul Gandhi met the family of journalist Siddique Kappan on Wednesday in Kalapetta, Kerala at a rest house. Kappan has been linked with the Popular Front of India (PFI) and arrested by the UP Police while he was heading to Hathras with two other fellow members.

Rahul Gandhi has assured the Kappan's family that he will leave no stone unturned in providing justice to him, as per sources. He is presently visiting his constituency Wayanad in Kerala.

Earlier this year, the outfit was banned by the UP police as the PFI was accused of being the fund provider for protests across the country against the Citizenship Amendment Act.

On Tuesday, the judicial custody of Kappan and 3 other accused was extended by a Mathura court.

Hathras has made frontpage headlines due to alleged gang-rape and death of a woman in Hathras on September 22.
