Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav reached Abu Dhabi earlier today. All the players landing in UAE would have to serve a six-day isolation period.
A Cricbuzz report claimed that Punjab Kings’ players and ones of Delhi Capitals too have flown from Manchester. The members of Chennai Super Kings would fly from London on Saturday night.
Meanwhile two of England’s regular in the Test arena, Jonny Bairstow and David Malan have withdrawn from the UAE leg of the IPL. This news has filtered in within 24 hours of cancellation of the Manchester Test on Thursday.
Bairstow was to present Sunrisers Hyderabad while Malan was brought by Punjab Kings in the IPL 2021 auction.
Bairstow’ absence opens doors for David Warner’s return in the playing eleven of SRH. The former SRH captain was sacked and dropped from playing xi during the India leg of the season.
Interestingly, Malan even as he has pulled out of the IPL would continue to play competitive cricket as he figures in the Yorkshire squad for the county game against Warwickshire which begins tomorrow.
