The Supreme court on Friday dismissed the plea of the former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar to give any interim relief on the medical grounds.
A bench headed by Chief Justice SA Bobde along with Justices Indu Malhotra and Hrishikesh Roy persuaded that Kumar’s medical report indicates that he does not need hospitalization at the moment.
“It is not a small case. We cannot grant bail,” the Supreme Court added further.
The Supreme Court has said that it is not an “ordinary case” and will hear Kumar’s appeal regarding his conviction and life sentence once the court resumes its functions in a physical manner.
Sajjan Kumar is the main accused in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and serving life imprisonment in the case relating to the killing of five members of the family in Raj Nagar. He served Congress for more than four decades.
