Sidhu wears a shawl which falls foul of Akal Takht; apology sought





Navjot Singh Sidhu, it seems, can’t do anything without raking up a controversy.

The latest is he wearing a shawl bearing the religious symbols, including “Omkar” and it has fallen foul with the religious body of the Sikhs, Akal Takht.

Giani Harpreet Singh, officiating Jathedar of Akal Takht, has asked Sidhu to tender an apology for hurting Sikh sentiments by wearing a shawl bearing Sikh religious symbols.

It is learnt that Sikh bodies from across the state had approached the Akal Takht to take action against the Congress leader and set an example for others.

Manjinder Singh Sirsa, president, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee and national spokesperson of Akali Dal  said, “We do not support anyone wearing such attires that have Sikh religious symbols on them.”

Earlier, Sidhu had met farmer groups at villages in Punjab and extended spport to them for their demands seeking withdrawal of farm laws.

He had also posted a video of his on social media which shows him in the shawl at the centre of controversy.
