Trinamool minister heckled by her voters: No work in 10 years

With the election campaign for the first phase ending today, the candidates are trying every possible way to woo their voters. However, when Asima Patra, the technical education minister of Mamata Banerjee’s government, visited her constituency Dhaniakhali, she had to face the ire of the locals in her constituency.

In a video shared by a local Bangla news channel, it can be seen that people were expressing their displeasure over the laxity shown by Asima towards her constituency. The locals were so mad at her that a few of them even threatened to beat her with brooms.

In the video, the MLA is seen screaming at a group of people who surround her. Meanwhile, another person can be heard shouting “Ekdom katha bolbena… record hobe, shabh record hobe” (Do not say a word, we will record, everything will be recorded).

As per the news channel, the argument took the heated turn when Asima asked the young man to stop the recording and threatened them with the terrible consequences. The locals soon started shouting on her and asked her to leave the place. “Dekha jabe ke kake dekhbe” (we will see who sees whom), cries out an angry local responding to the MLA’s threats.

“Daush bachar diye kichu kaaj hoyeni, aakhun vote samay kaaj dekhate aische…jhainta bar kor jhainta..” (no work has been done in the last 10 years, now when they want votes they are talking about development… take out the brooms), says a local, forcing the MLA to leave.

Trinamool Congress supremo  Mamata Banerjee is facing a do-or-die battle in the Bengal assembly elections. Stakes are high for the tempestuous TMC boss as losing the elections might put a question mark on the very existence of her “ideology-starved” party that has ruled the State since 2011. The anti-incumbency sentiment is also working strongly against it. Understanding the edgy situation, it would be really difficult for Banerjee to overcome people’s fury against the party’s appeasement politics, corruption, and public anger over lack of development.
