US carries out airstrike against ISIS-K; “target eliminated”

The United States military carried out an airstrike against ISIS-K as retaliation against the Afghan-based terror group after it bombed the Kabul airport and killed 13 American troops.

Sharing details of the drone strikes that targeted the ISIS-K planner, the Pentagon in a statement said that as per initial indications, the target had been eliminated.

“U.S. military forces conducted an over-the-horizon counterterrorism operation today against an ISIS-K planner. The unmanned airstrike occurred in the Nangarhar Province of Afghanistan,” a spokesman for U.S. Central Command, Captain. Bill Urban said.

“Initial indications are that we killed the target. We know of no civilian casualties,” Urban added further.

The drone strike comes after President Biden vowed on Thursday to target ISIS-K facilities “at the place we choose, in a moment of our choosing.”

“We will hunt you down and make you pay. We’ll rescue the American citizens from Afghanistan. We’ll get our Afghan allies out and our mission will go on,” Biden had said.
